Overview for Kids:
God’s people were home in Judah. God loved His people, and He wanted them to love and obey Him. God sent a man named Malachi to give the people a message. The priests were not giving the best gifts to God. The priests were also teaching wrong things about God. God told the priests, “Your job is to help people love Me, but you are not doing that.” God said He would send someone to get people ready for the Messiah, or special King. The Messiah would tell people about God’s plan to rescue them. Until then, God would be quiet for a long time. Many years later, Jesus came to earth like God promised.
God keeps His promises.
Talk About This:
What kind of animals were the priests sacrificing to God? (stolen, hurt, or sick animals)
What would be the job of the next messenger God would send? (to tell people to get ready for God’s special Messenger, the Messiah)
What were the people doing with the money and wealth God gave them? (keeping it for themselves)
What were the people saying about serving God? (People who did not serve God had better lives.)
What did God say about people who honored Him? (They would be happy.)
God is faithful and keeps His promises to us. He deserves our best. Worship together to a song. Talk about ways you can bring your best to God each day this week! Song suggestion: I Give You My Hallelujah
Memory Verse: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” -Jeremiah 29:11
