DAY 12

He Poured Himself Out

...because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors. Isaiah 53:12

Imagine reading this verse before Jesus was born! Imagine that you’ve waited and longed for the Messiah’s appearance your entire life. Imagine that your parents and grandparents have told you over and over that He will come, and now you’re reading why He will come. The precious baby Jesus who was born in a manger is the same Jesus who hung from the cross. In the greatest act of love, Jesus bore the weight of sins that were not his, absorbed the wrath of God that was intended for us, and made a way for us to have a close relationship with God once again.

Here are two questions to reflect on and discuss as a family or on your own:

  1. Is there any sin in your life that is distancing you from God? Take a moment to confess that to God right now.

  2. In what ways does remembering why Jesus came, change the way you view the Christmas story?

Pray: “God, thank You for pouring out Your soul to death for me. I was numbered with the transgressors, yet You took my sin and gave me Your life.”

As a family: Tomorrow is Serve828! Make sure your entire family is signed up and ready to serve. Take a few minutes to pray for those whom we will serve, and that everyone in Western North Carolina understands that Biltmore Church loves them.
