DAY 14

The Purpose of His Birth

Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose, I was born and for this purpose, I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” John 18:37

Jesus states clearly when he came and was born: to bear witness to the witness. He came to die for your sin, to pay the debt you could never pay, and to be raised from death in victory. As we celebrate his birth during this season, may we also remember the purpose of his birth.

Here are two questions to reflect on and discuss as a family or on your own:

  1. How will remembering why Jesus was born, alter how you celebrate Christmas?

  2. In the verse above, Jesus was mere hours from the cross. His entire life pointed toward these moments. How does His sacrifice bring Christmas into perspective?

Pray: “Lord, I know that you died for me. I know that all of this— being born, living a perfect life, dying on the cross, being buried, and rising again— was for us. Thank You for the truth and for including me in Your forever family.”

As a Family: Take your kids to a store and have them pick out items to donate to those in need. You can get gloves, blankets, socks, or hats and take them to any Biltmore Church campus between now and Christmas Eve. Find more information here.
