DAY 20

The Savior is Born

“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21

An angel is telling Mary and Joseph that Mary, a virgin, will bear the Savior of the world… Wow! You might want to read that sentence again. The promised Messiah—the One whom God’s people had longed for centuries is here. Can you imagine the rush of excitement, fear, and joy that rushed through Mary and Joseph?

Here are two questions to reflect on and discuss as a family or on your own:

  1. Why do people need to be saved from their sins?

  2. How would you explain these verses to a nonbeliever in 2 minutes or less?

Pray: “Lord, help me share this message with someone around me today. Help me speak up and share why You were born.”

As a Family: Go through picture albums (whether real photo albums or on your phone or computer) from when your child or children were born. Tell them how excited you were and describe the day to them. Now share how excited Mary and Joseph were when Jesus was born that first Christmas.
