Let’s Go See

"When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child.  And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.” Luke 2:15-21

Have you stopped, in the midst of the hustle and bustle of this season, to think about the Christmas message? God took on human flesh to be born of a virgin in a small town thousands of years ago. And this child’s birth, life, death, and resurrection changed the world.

Here are two questions to reflect on and discuss as a family or on your own:

  1. How will remembering who the real, powerful, loving God actually is shape your day?

  2. Once the shepherds confirmed what the angels told them, they started spreading the news. You have heard the good news, who will you share it with?

Pray: “Lord, I know I need to share this news of Your birth with people around me. Give me the courage and supply me with the words to speak this message to someone today.”

As a Family: Have everyone in your family pause and pray for a minute tomorrow. Maybe you could all decide on an exact time to stop time and pray, thanking God for sending Jesus.
